The poplars hold the history of El Calafate in their memory. At the beginning of the last century, their leafy branches served as a shield against the wind, giving shelter to the first settlers of this arid place.
More than 20 years ago, the Guatti Girometti family found a "small paradise" where they could build a resort -style inn- a spot in the very center of the city where poplars grew in abundance. The flat, fertile land was turned into parks all around the buildings. The green landscape contrasts with the plain and is splashed with color from the flowerbeds and the hanging baskets that adorn the windows of the guest rooms.

Alpine style defines the buildings of brick, and of lenga and algarrobo wood. Convenient access between the areas makes it easy to enjoy the hotel’s services: comfortable guest rooms, an assortment of restaurants, meeting rooms, a spa and a golf course.
After a day spent outdoors, the hotel is cozy and welcoming. A good outing is topped off by a dinner at La Posta. A rack of lamb with rose hip salsa and grilled trout served with vegetables are some of the regional dishes on the menu. The inn’s organic garden provides the kitchen with fresh ingredients such as strawberries, leafy greens and aromatic herbs.
A distinctive feature of the hotel is the exclusive, spacious spa and gym with a view of the golf course. At sunset, the lighted swimming pool's colors are reflected in the expanses of glass and high ceilings. A beauty or relaxation treatment can be followed by a visit to the Humus Cóctel Bar or the stone-lined wine cellar, which holds more than 2,000 labels. 
During the day, when the sun is high, the library’s windows provide a fine view of Mount Castillo, the foothills of the Andes, and the emerald green of Lake Argentino. The sound of the poplar branches swaying in the wind accompanies this treat for the eyes.
